What it's like
Forbes Town Center is a 5-hectare Megaworld township on BGC's west edge. Megaworld lists 12 residential buildings and more than 3,500 homes here, among them The Bellagio towers beside the Manila Golf Club course and the mid-rise Forbeswood Heights, finished in 2006–07. At the middle is Burgos Circle, a small park ringed by restaurants and bars. Underneath it is the detention tank that keeps much of BGC from flooding.
It suits couples and families who want a settled neighborhood with trees and mid-rise buildings, and quick access to Makati. Buildings are older than Uptown's, so you often get more space for the money: 2BRs of 90–100 sqm at The Bellagio are listed at about ₱80,000–115,000 a month.
The inner streets are quiet, but Burgos Circle and Forbestown Road fill up at dinner and on weekend nights. High Street is about 10 minutes on foot, Shangri-La and St. Luke's about 5–10. There's no international school within walking distance; ISM and BSM are about 1.5 km away. For Makati, drivers take McKinley Road or Kalayaan Avenue. BGC as a whole rarely floods: a detention tank under Burgos Circle holds up to 22,000 cubic meters of storm water and releases it after the rain. The roads out of BGC are another matter, so plan around rush hour and heavy rain (see Getting around).
