What it's like
Bonifacio High Street is the open-air center of BGC: a landscaped strip of shops and restaurants running from 5th to 11th Avenue between 28th and 32nd Street, built by Ayala Land. High Street Central, Central Square and One Bonifacio High Street add malls at the west end, and High Street South carries on along 26th Street. The homes are mostly towers on the edges, such as Verve Residences and The Suites at One Bonifacio High Street.
It suits singles and couples who want to walk to everything: the office, the cinema, the gym and dinner. Families use the lawns and the Terra 28th and Track 30th parks at weekends. It is one of the dearer places to rent: a 1BR at Verve is about ₱80,000 a month, 2BRs there are listed at ₱100,000–170,000, and a 2BR at The Suites is about ₱270,000.
Everything is on foot, and St. Luke's is about 0.5 km away. The trade-off is noise and crowds: weekend evenings are busy, and High Street South's bars stay open late. If you sleep early, ask for a unit facing away from the strip. BGC as a whole rarely floods: a detention tank under Burgos Circle holds up to 22,000 cubic meters of storm water and releases it after the rain. The roads out of BGC are another matter, so plan around rush hour and heavy rain (see Getting around).
